Step 2: Assessment

Step 3: Booking practical training

Once you have uploaded your screenshot you will be able to select which date you wish to attend.

Upon completing the MS Forms a member of staff will be in touch to confirm your 25 -minute practical session.

Aims

 

To enhance knowledge and skills in managing end of life care for a complex patient with heart failure.

To promote compassionate, patient centred care in a realistic clinical scenario.

 

Objectives

 

Identify clinical signs indicating that a patient with heart failure is entering the dying phase.

Demonstrate appropriate, compassionate communication with the patient and family.

Facilitate discussions around goals of care, setting appropriate ceilings and acknowledging the role of advanced directives.

Initiate timely palliative care interventions and escalate appropriately.

Reflect on the emotional and ethical challenges of end of life care.

 

Who can attend:

Registered nurses, therapists and doctors working in the community setting.

Target Audience – All Trust Staff, interested in palliative care and key topic areas.  

These sessions will be facilitated by guest speakers, providing education on current practice in their area of speciality. These sessions will help extend your knowledge in specific areas.  They will allow you to have access to specialist staff with background/interest in the topic discussed and will also create a forum to share practice and ideas to improve skill set.

Sally Harris in the Clinical Lead, Foundations (START) in Hartlepool. Sally has a wealth of experience in supporting patients and collaborating with clinical teams to address the challenges and enable this group of patients to access the services which they need to promote the quality of their lives. In addition, she will address the topic of symptom control in the context of substance misuse. This webinar is aimed at anyone involved in patient care

Verification of Expected Adult Death by Non Medical Practitioners, 02/06/2026, 13:00 - 15:00, Room 8, STRIVE, JCUH

Target Audience – All Registered Nurses, Therapists working in an advanced clinical practice roles or trainee advanced clinical practitioner role are also eligible to undertake this training.  

This course will equip staff with knowledge of the current policy and procedures around verification of an expected adult death. Staff will then be required to complete a competency assessment back in practice and be signed off as competent. 

This course will be face to face and staff have written agreement from their line manager that this course is appropriate to their clinical practice.

Upon completing the Cannulation eLearning you will receive a certificate to your email address that you have used to complete the training.

You will then need to upload a copy of your certificate onto the Cannulation Part B Forms, which can be found using the below link:
