Target Audience – The sessions are aimed at senior nurses working at band 6 or above – who are completing or may need to complete DNACPR forms as part of their extended role.

Anyone who wishes to enrol for the DNACPR training must complete the Deciding Right’s e-learning prior to attending. A certificate will be issued on completion of the e-learning course. This training can be accessed via Northern Cancer Alliance .

Delegates must also have a written agreement from your line manager which outlines that the completion of a DNACPR form is appropriate to your role and is reviewed as part of the yearly SDR process.

The session will include communication in relation to DNACPR – principles are the same whether in community or the acute setting, legal considerations, practicalities of completing the DNACPR form – the same for community and acute setting and some case scenarios.

BD Bodyguard T Ambulatory Syringe Pump Training & use of Subcutaneous medicines in Palliative & End of Life Care, 10/06/2026, 13:00 - 15:30, Room 9, STRIVE, JCUH

Target Audience – All qualified registered nursing staff who have responsibility for setting up BD bodyguard T ambulatory syringe pumps when caring for adult patients with palliative and end of life care needs.


This course will equip staff to be able to describe what an ambulatory syringe pump is and discuss the clinical reasons for its use. You will have the opportunity to demonstrate how to load a syringe into the BD BG T ambulatory pump and set it up to deliver the correct contents.


You will gain oversight of the common drugs used with a BD BG ambulatory syringe pump and using a case study you will have the opportunity to describe a symptom management approach.


The competency assessment must be completed in practice as part of this training.

Palliative Care Community Roadshow Education Programme is for Community Staff only.

Target Audience – All registered nurses and AHP's who deliver palliative and end of life care in the community as part of their work within the Trust.

This is a day 1 of a 2-day programme that provides a comprehensive overview of palliative and end-of-life care across in community care settings. Designed to build confidence and enhance the skills of staff working in the community, the programme focuses on supporting patients and their families with compassion and expertise.

Day 2: This course is linked with the Palliative Care Skills days (see page 7) which focuses on specific palliative care skills. You only need to attend the parts of day 2 you have not yet completed.

Key topics on day one include:

Recognising when a patient is approaching the end of life

Managing pain and other distressing symptoms

Communicating effectively and sensitively

Understanding and implementing advance care planning

The course is delivered by the Palliative and end of life clinical educators
