Dr Colette Hawkins is an Academic Consultant in Palliative Medicine working in South Tees Trust. Colette will introduce spirituality as a central part of being human and therefore relevant to everyone. But spiritual care is frequently overlooked in healthcare. Instead of 'boxing' spiritual care as a component of palliative care, relevant to the person who is dying, Colette will explore the concept that the people around the patient - family, friends and professionals - are critical in determining what, if any, spiritual care is offered.
