Applicable for primary care, this training session will cover: Immediate and necessary care (Red flag assessment), venous vs arterial signs, oedema evaluation, skin assessment and the role and forms of compression.

This session looks at factors that affect wound healing, holistic assessment and wound assessment.

The learning outcomes and content of the session as follows:

describe the importance of wound assessment
recognise factors that may delay wound healing
recall the key steps in wound assessment
recognise terminology used to describe the wound
recognise changes in the individual's wound and surrounding skin and when to refer on for advice or support
record and report findings from a wound assessment
value the importance of good communication and interpersonal skills with the multidisciplinary team

AIM (Acute Illness Management) is a one-day inter-professional course standardising the clinical approach to the management of the deteriorating patient and is suitable for all registered staff.

Important notice

There is a pre-requisite that the course manual must be received at least 30 days in advance to allow reading.

If you do not receive a manual it is your responsibility to contact the Acutely Ill Patient Team on stees.aip@nhs.net.

Catherisation Part B: Booking your practical session. – Fill in form

Once you have uploaded your screenshot you will be able to select which date you wish to attend.

Upon completing the MS Forms a member of staff will be in touch to confirm your 35 minute practical session.

BD Bodyguard T Ambulatory Syringe Pump Training & use of Subcutaneous medicines in Palliative & End of Life Care, 16/07/2026, 09:00 - 11:30, Room 9, STRIVE, JCUH

Target Audience – All qualified registered nursing staff who have responsibility for setting up BD bodyguard T ambulatory syringe pumps when caring for adult patients with palliative and end of life care needs.

This course will equip staff to be able to describe what an ambulatory syringe pump is and discuss the clinical reasons for its use. You will have the opportunity to demonstrate how to load a syringe into the BD BG T ambulatory pump and set it up to deliver the correct contents.

You will gain oversight of the common drugs used with a BD BG ambulatory syringe pump and using a case study you will have the opportunity to describe a symptom management approach.

The competency assessment must be completed in practice as part of this training.
